Deutsch
Speak German. Yes, actually.
Voice-first AI roleplay. Hochdeutsch, Bäckerei to boardroom.
German has a reputation. Voca ignores it. Order Brötchen in Berlin, hold a table in a Munich Biergarten, survive an appointment at the Amt — in five-minute sessions that train your mouth, not your fear of the dative.

Nobody ever got fluent by memorising case tables. You get fluent by saying the sentence wrong, hearing it right, and saying it again.

Why German, why Voca
The German you will actually use.
German is the language where the bakery queue moves fast and expects you to be ready, where du and Sie are a genuine social decision, and where directness is a form of politeness. Voca puts you in the conversations that actually happen: a Bäckerei counter at 8am, a WG viewing where five people want the room, a Biergarten table you have to share, a Berlin stand-up on Monday. It even keeps score of your du and Sie — because Germans certainly will.
How it works
One loop. Five minutes. You leave each session having said something out loud in German that you couldn't say before.
- 101
Warm up
A two-minute brief in your language — the words, the culture, the things people actually say.
- 202
Drill
Tap-to-reveal flashcards. Spaced repetition keeps the new words in your head until you need them.
- 303
Roleplay
Speak to an AI character living the scene. They listen, react, push back — in character.
- 404
Score
Vocabulary, grammar, fluency, pronunciation — graded line by line. CEFR progress you can point to.

German FAQs
How long does it take to learn German?+
To order at a Bäckerei and handle basic chat, 4-6 weeks of daily 10-minute sessions. German is rated Category II by the US Foreign Service — a step up from Spanish or French, mostly because of the case system. Honest answer: it takes longer. Speaking every day is what shortens it.
Hochdeutsch or a regional dialect?+
Standard German (Hochdeutsch) — the German of Berlin offices, national TV and every classroom. It is understood everywhere from Hamburg to Vienna. Bavarian and Swiss German are wonderful, but they are not what Voca teaches.
Is German as hard as everyone says?+
The grammar is front-loaded — cases and word order hit you early. But German pronunciation is refreshingly regular, and once the patterns click they stay clicked. The real wall is speaking out loud without rehearsing every sentence. That is the wall Voca knocks down.
Du or Sie? I never know which.+
Neither do most learners — which is why Voca tracks it. Roleplay characters expect the right register for who they are: Sie for the official at the Amt, du for your flatmate. Use the wrong one and the feedback tells you, so the reflex is built before you land in Germany.
Can Voca help me prep for the Goethe-Zertifikat or telc?+
For the speaking components, yes — Voca’s task-based roleplays mirror what Goethe and telc examiners are listening for at A2-B2. For the written parts you will want a structured course alongside it.
